Workflow application development |
|
|
Hi All,
l have some questions regarding Exchange server 2003 workflow application development :
1.) l need to install Visual Studio.net in the exchange server?
2.) If 1.) is no need, then can l just install VS.NET in XP client machine to development and testing?
3.) Which programming language can be use ? (VB.net or C#.net or another)
Thanks a lot!

Hello Miling.
AFAIK, MS Exchange applications doesn't support .NET platform.
You need to install Workflow designer for workflow processes developing.
Technologies that you can use are - VBScript, COM/COM+.
If you're advanced exchange developer, you can use COM processors for event sinks. In this case you can debug your code.
If you're using Workflow designer and VBScript backend processing code - you cannot debug your application - you can use event logging only.
You can install Workflow designer on server or client.
For debugging your workflow application (if you use COM event sink processors. are you advanced exch. developer?) you can install VS 6 only 'cause VS.NET doesnt support, AFAIK, unmanaged codes like COM.
If you whant to debug remotely (debug server application on client machine) install additionaly remote debugger on server and client (see VS 6 installation distr.).
Download Exchange SDK from www.microsoft.com and enjoy.
Alexander.

Because l am totally beginner.. :-)

Workflow designer is standalone application. It installed on PC with/as Office XP Developer.
Only download Exchange SDK, unpack it and install workflow designer to your PC.
Workflow designer don't need to additional application installations.
