Problem in exchange 2003 and ntbackup (shadow copy) |

I have the problem that i cannot make a backup with ntbackup from the
information store, the errors i received was:
Backup started on 28/12/2004 at 10:33 AM.
The 'Microsoft Information Store' returned 'Error returned from an ESE
function call (d).' from a call to 'HrESEBackupRead()' additional data
'-'The 'Microsoft Information Store' returned 'Error returned from an
ESE function call (d).' from a call to 'HrESEBackupRead()' additional
data '-'
The operation was ended.
Backup completed on 28/12/2004 at 10:36 AM.
Directories: 0
Files: 1
Bytes: 533,398,286
Time: 2 minutes and 38 seconds
in the event viewer:
source ese 217
source ntbackup 8001
source ntbackup 8019
I have searched for posts that resolves this problems i found that is
a conflict between ntbackup and shadow, and microsoft has a hotfix but
its not disponible on the site and its needed call to them... $$$...
I read the document that describes the hotfix and the problem is not
the same in the all its aspects.
I also found if i dismount the database, and:
eseutil /k d:\exchange\priv1.edb
eseutil /d /p d:\exchange\priv1.edb
manually renamed the PRIV1 database files
isinteg -s server02 -fix -test alltests
I made this and resolves my problem, now can i make a successful
backup.

You do not pay for hotfixes -- call up Microsoft PSS and tell them you want
the hotfix for KB # xxxxx, they'll ask for your email address, and minutes
later you willhave an email with a link to the hotfix along with a password.
