lotus notes connector |

I have to do the design for two exchange organizations migrating to one exch
org. At the same time we also need integration with lotus notes/domino
environment like we currently have in the Exchange 5.5 environment.
Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1 supports Lotus notes connector.
Now we are three companies sharing 1 forest. We did in place upgrades of
all the separate NT 4 domains and will then migrate into one pristine
domain.
Herein lies the problem. The lotus notes users is one of these companies.
So the lotus notes users will be defined in 2 directories.
Now first prize will be to have GAL Synchronization and send mail through
the Notes connector and free/busy calendaring is working as well.
This does not look possible. I have played around with exchange 2003 lotus
notes connector and got it to work. The documentation you get for the LNC
is sparse and confusing. In the one document you need to install exch 2003
on 2000 server because the lotus notes client is not supported on srv2003
and in the other doc you need exch 2003 on srv 2003. Anyway I got it to
work on srv2003 and exch2003 with domino 6.5.
The problem is that if a user exists in both directories and you assume they
both have the same username as well, then it does not synchronise anything
from lotus notes to exch/AD. Like lets say PietPompies exists in both
directories. In AD he is not a mail enabled user because he uses lotus
notes. We would like to send him mail from exchange and would like to find
him in our Exch GAL. If I can use LNC to get his SMTP address synchronised
at least I will be able to send him mail using SMTP and not the LNC. If I
can get the Lotus Notes proxy address across to a non email enabled AD user
it will be even greater.
So after all this I want to know is there anyone with experience in an
environment like this and can give me some tips of how to tackle this.
Particularly if the user exists in both directories and what if any can be
shared and synchronised.
Thanks in advance
Gus
