Re: How to demote Win NT 4.0 PDC to BDC. |

Yes, you would use server manager to promote the new BDC to PDC. When you
promote the new box to PDC for the domain, it will automatically demote the
existing PDC to BDC because there can only be 1 read-write copy of the SAM.

I'm currently managing a small network with a single Windows NT 4.0
Domain
having One Win NT PDC and BDC in the test Lab.PDC is also running Exchange
5.5 Server on it. I joined a new windows NT Server as the BDC with good
Hardware Specifications to my existing Windows NT Domain.
I want to Promote this New BDC as the PDC and demote the existing WinNT
PDC
to the BDC and then Upgrade the NEW PDC to Windows 2003 Server.
CAN i Promote my NEW BDC TO PDC without demoting the existing PDC.
Your suggestions will be highly appericated.
