Broken System |
|
|
Dear all,
I recently set up a SBS2k3 box to test with and put a couple of users on it.
I didn't get around to doing a backup in the three days that the server was
up and then we suffered a power outage that has effected a registry
corruption to the extent that the box won't start (not even the recovery
console).
I had the exchange store on a separate partition, will it be possible to
import/attach this mailstore after I have reinstalled SBS2k3 on the machine?
Many thanks
Barry

Can't you attempt a full repair of the system? It's easier to fix the |
root problem rather than abandon ship and try to use a different store
in a new installation. |

Since the power failure, the machine gives the following message when trying
to load windows:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system
I've tried using the recovery console, it gives me the option of choosing
one system, which I take, it then hangs, so I get nowhere.
The storage was a raid 1 array, I've tried using the disks individually and
it's no go either.
Not sure where I go from here
