Some of the users on our network (not all ot them) are experiencing the
following issue:

They send an email to someone outside the company and CC some people inside
the company, and for some people it never gets delivered. Some people get it
and some don't. For the users outside of our company, it could be an issue on
their end, but when it doesn't get delivered to someone within the company, I
don't have an explanation for that.

Also, sometimes, it will finally deliver it to the personnel in the company,
but it will take 12 hours or so to get delivered. Any ideas as to what might
be causing this? Is there an admin utility to look at a log of what has been
sent or recieved by a particular user?

Thanks

Message tracking should help you out. It needs to be enabled....it isn't by
default. It's in the ESM under tools.

Yes I do have Message Tracking Enabled..and it shows that the message was
sent successfully.

Incidentally, we have Exchange Version 6.5.7226
I think we're on SP1...and users are on Outlook 2003.

Are there any kind of regular maintenance tasks that I should be peforming
on the Exchange Database?

Thanks

Sorry for the late response. The message tracking logs should help you
determine where the slowness occurred....unfortunately your problem is too
broad to give you a solution via newsgroups. For example you said: "but
when it doesn't get delivered to someone within the company, I don't have an
explanation for that.".....what I'll suggest doing in this case is track the
message to this one user...and see whether it shows as being delivered or
not.

As for your second question....you shouldn't need to do anything to the
databases...just back them up. Exchange does an online defrag of the
databases every night for you.
