I am presently looking into Exchange failover options. I was wondering what
experiences anyone has had with 3rd party failover software.

Depends what you mean with failover. You need to be more detailed.
If you are just concerned to loos emails when your exchange is going down
then its enough
to put a simple SMTP relay in front of your exchange. A simple smtp relay is
included in most windows versions anyway.
Thanks
Stefan
