how to find out all exchange servers in a domain |
|
|
Not very familiar with exchange, worse still, windows in general.
Is there any way to find the hostnames of all the Exchange Servers in a
domain? I have admin access to the domain controller. I just have some
vague idea that our domain has 3 exchange servers. So given a user in Active
Directory Users and Computers, how can I find out which exchange server this
user is associated with?
Thanks,

If memory serves me right, the Exchange 200x install creates two groups in
the Users container called Exchange Domain Servers and Exchange Enterprise
Servers. One of these groups might be helpful since the groups are not
supposed to be moved.
Assuming your workstation is Windows XP or 2003 Server, you can create a
custom query in ADUC to quickly identify which users are on an Exchange
server. (the query wizard is pretty straight forward)

Ok, I've found out all the exchange servers in Active Directory Users and
Computers.

Where can I find more information about creating custom query in ADUC? I do
not have any clue of how to do that.
Thanks much for the help.

Open ADUC, do you have a folder right at the top called "Saved Queries"?

Nope. I don't see it. But I found an 'Exchange Servers' folder on the
left panel in ADUC. It lists all the exchange servers we have. That's what
I was looking for.
Thanks for the help.
