Currently we have a server that recieves mail for honeywell.com and forwards
it on to another server via the internet, for each user that has an address
at honeywell.com there is a mailbox with the same name on the other server.

We want to connect these two servers together with an X400 connector, when
this happens what will happen, as regards to the duplicate mailbox names
existing on both servers.

What I want to happen, is mail arrive at the honeywell.com server and send
it on to the second server and place it in that users mailbox.

Why X.400? Why not SMTP connector?
X.400 or SMTP are just transports and don't require that you sync the
directories. The directories are still separate unless you change it.

A directory sync? Corp standard I assume...

If you use the 5.5 directory sync pieces, there is no such thing as a
duplicate mailbox anymore. There can be only one unique smtp address in an
organization. When you connect the servers via dir repl connectors, you
create a new site in the org. There will be a collision and they'll need to
be fixed (the sync may do it automatically for you, but mailboxes should
win. Would be a real mess to be sure).

In Exchange 200x, the directory service is handled by Active Directory. So
if they're in the same forest, they get their info there. If they're
separate forests/orgs then the you'll want to look at another product to
sync the GAL such as MIIS or SimpleSynch.

Does that help?

We need to do a sync.
