Hi all,

Do i have to install Active Directory on the server which
is going to install Exchange 2003 or i just need a Domain
controller sitting on my LAN? if we install Active
Directory, doesn't it mean the server has been promoted as
a Domain controller?

Cheers

Ken

You do not have to have AD running on your exch box. You
do have to have Kerberos, EPM, LDAP, GC and DNS access to
your DC from the exch box.

If you install AD via DCPROMO you are creating a new DC.

If you do choose to run exch on a DC, you must move the
GC role to another DC, and the GC role and exch will
conflict. Also in a multi DC env you cannot have the GC
role on the same box as the infrastructure master FSMO
role.
