Hello,

Employees in my office move email messages sent directly to them (for a
specific project) to a designated public folder so that everyone associated
with that project has access.

When viewing these mail items in the public folder, in addition to the
standard fields (i.e. From, Subject, Received, etc.) they would like to have
an additional text field (e.g. Project Notes) so that they can enter notes
for particular mail items.

I've tried going to (View | Current View | Customize Current View | Fields)
and creating a new field (Type: Text, Format: Text). While this field
appears, I do not see how I can input information into this field. I'm
assuming this is not how it is done, and that I would have to somehow created
a custom form that would automatically apply to all mail items that are moved
into this respective public folder. Or perhaps this is not possible at all?

The one solution I've come up with (but it didn't receive a favorable
response), was to open a mail item, select (Edit | Edit Message) and add the
desired note to the end of the "Subject" field.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew

Forms are what it sounds like you want. Have you looked into outlook forms?
