RE: two locations scenarios - Design help. |

Other way of explaining my problem:
2 locations: There is a VPN connection between 2 locations. One location
has a running windows domain with exchange server. I want to expand my
network to the second location, how should I proceed with this. I want to
minimize the network traffic by allowing the new location users to be
authenticated locally and login to the local exchange server.
How should I design my second location - shall I install new domain or join
in the same domain of running domain.
Shall I install exchange in new site or join in the same site of first
location.
Please show me a way to find appropriate document or just explain me briefly
so I can find way to go.
Thanks

Virginia we already have a windows 2000 domain and exchange 2000 server with
recipients having the email as "recipient@mycompany.com". We are trying to
setup a new windows 2000 domain in the same forest for Maryland. I need some
help for installing exchange 2000 in this new domain:
My concerns:
Maryland recipients should have the same email structure as
recipient@mycompany.com - Do I have to use same orgnaizations name and site
name when I install exchange server in the new domain. In this case how
should I configure my DNS server for incoming email, I guess I should use
metrics to prioriize between both of the email servers.
My other option:
Install second domain controller in Virginia's domain but physically located
in Maryaland, then install second exchange server in the Virginia's exchange
organization but physically locate it in Maryland. In this case, all the
emails are received in Virginia and routed to the server where the
recipient's mailbox store is located - this causes more network traffic.
Please suggest me if there any document to understand this scenarios. |
