Disaster Recovery |
|
|
Hi all. I;m sure this is an old topic but I'm pressed for time here. Setup is
Exchange 5.5 sp4 running on NT4a. Server died and tapes are failing to
restore data. I was able to copy the exchsvr folder to another server but I'm
not sure how to get any data from it. If anyone has any ideas or even knows
of a 3rd party solution to extract the contents I'm wide open to the
suggestion at this point.
Thanks,
Mike

You'll have to install the new server with the same name as the old server,
and then copy priv.edb, pub.edb and dir.edb to the correct paths.

Thanks for getting back to me. When you same to use the same server name, are
you referring to the actual NetBios name of the server or the exchange
Organization name?
Thanks again,

both...if you're doing a full recovery...if you're going to restore the
dir.edb, the server must have the same name...and no matter what you're
recovering, the Exchange Org and Site need to be named exactly the same to
recover...
