An old secretary is still getting meeting requests for her old manager
(exchange 2000). On the managers pc the delegates tab (Outlook XP) has no
entries in it. All folders on his mailbox have been checked and her name
removed from permissions tab. In active directory there are no permisions
for her under mailbox advanced, mailbox rights, and no entries for her under
exchange general, delivery options
Any ideas?
Thanks
David

Delegates is the usual suspect here. I'm pretty sure that delegates are
stored as a hidden message in the mailbox, so maybe have a look with MDBVU
in the mailbox to see if such a message exists.

Hi David,

Thanks for posting here! Great info, Neil!

First of all, please note that our newsgroups are not the appropriate venue
of support for time critical or business down issues. The newsgroups are
staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals. Our goal is to provide
24 hour response to all questions, which may not be quick enough in this
type situation. Your understanding is appreciated.

Microsoft Partners in the United States and Canada can take advantage of
around-the-clock Microsoft technical phone support, at no charge, during
critical LAN outages or escalated, "business down" customer situations.

For time critical issues (not business down), we encourage you to contact
CSS directly for more immediate resolution to the issue. More information

It is your decision if you would like me to work with you on this issue in
this thread. I will be glad to assist you.

I agree with Neil that the issue is much possibly caused by delegate rule
in Manager's mailbox. Actually, the delegate information may not be
displayed in Outlook. If there is no entry in Delegates tab, please use the
MDBView which is located on both the Standard Edition and Enterprise
Edition of the Exchange Server CD-ROM in the Support\Utils\I386 folder to
identify the delegate rules and remove them. You can also download MDBVU32
utility by the web link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3D1C7482-4C6E-4EC5-
983E-127100D71376&displaylang=en

The Outlook delegate rules are stored in the Inbox folder.

The delegate rule is an item in the Associated Messages in FLD window, in
the CB entry, and has a description of "Schedule + EMS Interface."

To remove delegate rules by using the MDBView utility:
1. Start the MDBView utility, click MAPI_Explicit_PROFILE, and then click
OK.
2. Click the profile name of the user who is the sender.
3. On the MDB menu, click Open Message Store. In the Store Display Name
pane, click the user's mailbox, and then click Open.
4. On the MDB menu, click Open Root Folder.
5. In the root folder, double-click the Top of Information Store folder.
6. Double-click the Inbox folder.
7. In the Associated message in FLD window, double-click to open each
message until you find a message with "Schedule + EMS Interface" in the
properties (the bottom window in the dialog).
8. Close this message to return the focus to the list.
9. To delete this message, in the Associated Message In FLD window, click
to select the message. In the Operations Available box, click the
lpFLD->DeleteMessages(). Click Call Function and then click OK to confirm
the deletion. The message is deleted.

Lee,

I am trying to follow the advice regarding the use of the MDBView utility to
remove the stranded delegate rule, but I have run into a problem. I follow
the instructions from Q253557 until I reach step 5....in my Root folder I
can't find the "Top of Information Store" folder. I have the following child
folders available...

Common Views
Finder
Shortcuts
Views
IPM_SUBTREE
~MAPISP(Internal)
Drizzle

If I select "IPM_SUBTREE" folder I can get to the "Inbox" folder. I have
looked carefully at the properties of each message and can't find anything
resembling the "Schedule + EMS Interface" entry in the properties window.
Based on the deviation required to get to the "Inbox" (see above) I am now
wondering if I am going to need to look for something else to get to the
appropriate message. After running into this obstacle on one mailbox I have
created a delegate for my own mailbox so I could try and find the "Schedule +
EMS Interface" entry and I run into the same problem. Is it possible the
MDBView tool is not appropriate for all scenarios?

I am using Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Pro. I would
really like to resolve this issue...but I am strating to wonder if the
MDBView tool is going to work in my case. Any guidance would be appreciated.

OK....quick update I noticed a key piece of info in one of the other
posts....When using the MDBView tool you MUST have the Outlook profile set so
it does NOT use Cached Exchange Mode. Edit the Outlook profile and ensure
this option is not selected. After I turned off Cached Exchange Mode....I
was able to see the "Top of Information Store Folder" and navigate to step 7
from Q253557. At this point I am still unable to find the "Schedule + EMS
Interface." entry on my own mailbox...but I am not the one with the problem.
I am under the impression this should be visible if I have a delegate
assigned which I do. If anyone has any hints for me....I am all ears.

P.S. Heads-Up to Microsoft....you should update Q253557 to draw attention to
the Cached Mode mistake I was making.....The other guy in this News Group
figured it out but without his comments I would have been out of luck. Based
on the activity surrounding this issue...you will have more and more
customers trying to fix this problem. OK...I will get off the Soap Box now

There is also another solution.
Open Adsiedit
Browse to the user and get the properties field
Browse in attribites field to:
publicDelegates
and
publicDelegatesBL
hit the edit buton
look for delegates who's account has been deleted

This helped me with a problem of a secretary who left and was still authorised when her account was deleted. People who made an appointment received an error that the secretary could not be reached.
