I am running the ForestPrep setup. I got to the `Component Selection' page
where I made sure that the action is set to `ForestPrep' and clicked Next. It
started installing but during step 3 of 10 it came up with error `setup
failed while installing sub-component Microst Windows Active Directory Schema
update with error code 0xC1037AE6'. I looked up this error and it said `An
environment variable for the administrator or user who is running setup has a
path that has a space in it' I created a new temp location (making sure there
was no spaces) and ran the ForestPrep again. Again the same error message
appeared.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Why is this happening and how can I fix
this and run ForestPrep sucessfully?

Thank You in Advance.

Kind Regards

Khimji

Potentially:

Possibly this:

First thing to check is all the settings for the account you're using.
Even perhaps create a fresh account with Schema Admin rights that is
just vanilla and doesn't have any policies or profile settings
attached to it.

Thank you for helping me Mark,

The first KB article you mentioned, we don't have a duplicate LDAP. I had
tried the second KB article which did not work.

Any other ideas?

Kind Regards

You might find more detail regarding the problem in the "Exchange Server
Setup Progress.log" file.

We got it to work.
What we did was transfer the Schema Master Role to another server which is
running as an additional domain controller and then ran the forestprep again
and it worked.

Thanks for your help guy's

Kind Regards

In addition to Tony's post, did you actually do what I suggested
regarding creating a known, good, shell new account?
