i want to install an Exchange 2003 Server as a Front End OWA Server. It
should connect to an Exchange 2000 Back End Server.
Beside we still have an Exchange 5.5 Server which is used as a connector to
several small applications. There are no Mailboxes on that Server.
Our Domain is a mixed Mode Active Directory 2000.
If i install an Exchange 2003 Server Forprep and Domprep are executed. Is it
sure that everthing still works after that ? Can i still manage the older
Exchange Servers with the new options that are added ?
Thanks

You can safely have Exchange 2000 and 2003 servers in the same AG.
Yes, 2003 FE's are fine with 2000 BE's but remember the fact that you
will only get 2000 OWA rather than 2003 OWA until you upgrade the BE,
after which time 2003 OWA will be presented without you needing to
make any changes to the FE.
The presence of 5.5 has no bearing or chalenges. |
