SMTP Logging in IIS How to Shut OFf on Gateway |
|
|
I have SMTP Logging for some reason on my Mail Gateway which runs IIS SMTP
and then sends the mail to Exchange. Does anyone know how to turn down
logging on IIS SMTP. The option for logging in not checked under
properties
Thanks
Norman

If the logging isn't ticked on the properties of the VSI (on the
general tab) then exactly what directory are these files being
generated? |

I dont have any VSI. This is just a IIS Gateway that then delivers to
exchange. I keep on getting these messages on my mail gateway. I think
somewhere a registry key might have been modified but dont know where.
These show up in the system log.
This is the message
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: smtpsvc
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4000
Date: 1/21/2005
Time: 11:08:17 AM
User: N/A
Computer: XXXXX
Description:
Message delivery to the remote domain 'kotours.com' failed for the following
reason: Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS.

This isn't the question you actually asked.
Try and change the DNS server that your gateway uses for its lookups.
That's what the usual suggestion is for W2Kx IIS SMTP issues on event
id 4000 and your text. |

Messages are being sent but I get these messages filling up the log so I am
curious if these are normal as they are not really valid domains anyway.
I just want to turn down the logging level if possible
Thanks
