got 2003 but when i try this command to stop all services before i reboot, it
just says:
System error 1060 has occurred
The specified service does not exist as an installed service

Try this

net stop MSExchangeSA /yes
net stop MSExchangeES /yes
net stop MSExchangeIS /yes
net stop MSExchangeMTA /yes

try msexchangesa for the microsoft exchange system attendant.

msexchangeis = information store
msexchangemta = message transfer agent

at work i can just type net stop msexchange on a SBS box
maybe doesnt work with server 2003
