Hi

I am trying to put the above fix on so I can install Exchange SP1(2003) but
I get "The Data is Invalid" error. I have tried downloading several times,
thinking the data might be corrupt, but to no avail.

Kind regards

Scott

This hotfix deploy a new version of W3core.dll.

Check if the version of this DLL on your machine is 6.0.3790.0 or 6.0.3790.99

If you DLL already was update during the installation that failed and the
version is 6.0.3790.99:

1) Rebooted machine into safe mode
2) Replaced the W3core.dll in the C:\WINDOWS\System32\InetSrv and
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache folders
3) Rebooted the machine
4) Try to install againg KB831464

The version of w3core.dll is 6.0.3790.0. I dont have a dllcache folder in
system32. Does this make a difference? I have one in c:\windows\lastgood\
though.

Even though it is this version, shall I still replace?

Sorry about my confusion. As your update is failing you have to replace
manually this file. So here is the procedure:

1) Start your computer in safe mode and extract the hotfix download by
running this command:

WindowsServer2003-KB831464-x86-ENU.exe /x

2) Manually replace W3core.dll in the system folders that you found (for
security backup, rename the original file)

3) Reboot your computer and verify if the file is now updated

4) Install Exchange SP1 (2003)
