We are running an Exchange 5.5 site with several servers. Directory
replication was having problems when it was discoverd by going into the Raw
Admin for Exchange and found a phantom computer in the Reps-to. The MS
support said to install a temporary exchange system with the name of the
phantom system and that should work. Well it got replication back but now I
cannot remove this system from the site. Another tech said to use the chkds
tool with -fixorphaned and -fixgarbagecollect switches after of course
shutting down the exchange services and copying the dir.edb for a backup.
Hopefully this will remove that phantom instance that seems to be causing
replication issues. Has anyone used this that could offer some tips or
things to watch out for? Thank you!
