No, you do not need to set a private network.
You can even configure RPC over HTTP on a single server:
"How to configure RPC over HTTP on a single server in Exchange Server 2003"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;833401
The reason why normally a perimeter network is referenced is because the
main reason for using RPC over HTTP(s) is to provide external access.

Exchange 2003 SP1 running on a Windows Server 2003. This server is also a

with the global catalog. I also have 2 other Windows 2003 servers on the
network. All of this is behind a Cisco PIX 515E firewall. Can RPC over
HTTP
be accomplished without having to setup a perimeter network or the use of
an
ISA server? Thanks in advance for any replies to this post. |
