Can anyone tell me is it possible to host exchange in the root domain and
create mailboxes from a child domain in that exchange site? So if you have
root of XYZ.com and the child of ABC.XYZ.com and create a user at
ABC.XYZ.com????

I have test lab running right now and the child domain users never populate
to the root exchange server.

Did you domainprep the child domain?
Did you create the RUS object and run it for the child domain?
Was the user object updated successfully?

Al,

thanks for the info. I kind of already new that I could. Just looking
for a little direction on how??? Already have it running in the lab, but
I can not get clients of the child domain to actually create their
mailboxes in the root domain.

you create a new user, create the mailbox and it goes successfully. you
try and have the client connect to the exchange server and it says the
user is not recognize or does not exist.

Yep, it's possible.
Just be sure to domainprep the child domain and create a RUS object for
the child domain as well.
