My company is using Exchange 5.5 SP4 and all users are
running Outlook 2002. Prior to Christmas users were able
to synchronize all of their offline folders within
Outlook with no issues. However, now when they attempt
to synchronize their folders when exiting out of Outlook
they receive the below error message within the
Synchronization Log for every non-synchronizing folder.
I've double checked and no modifications were made to the
Exchange Server over Christmas break. Also, the folders
that do and do not synchronize are random. A folder
named "Bill" may synchronize during one shutdown but may
not on the next shutdown of Outlook.

12:56:32 The client operation failed.

What happens if you delete the OST file on one of the offending
workstations, and let it get recreated? (provided the data has actually
sync'd). Or set up another profile with a brand-new OST file. Test.

That said - what's the reason you have all your users doing this on the LAN?
If you want this functionality for disaster recovery, it isn't the best way.
If you want to just 'smooth out the bumps' in network connectivity, and
improve performance, look into Outlook 2003 and cached mode.

Also note, OT, that NT4/Exchange 5.5 are no longer supported by MS - any
plans to upgrade to 2003?
