Distribution group - not all members receive mail |
|
|
I am having a problem with a distribution group. There are 2 members, one
receives mail and the other doesn't for some reason. If I send a message
internally they both receive it however any mail coming into this address
externally is only received by the one user. I just added myself to the
distribution list and have the same problem - I can receive internal email to
this address but not external. One user gets it all fine. Any ideas?
Thanks
Dave

How have you configured the distribution group?
Also, I assume that you have no problem which is sent directly to you
from and external source. |

It is just configured as a global distribution group for that email address
with each recipient as a member of that group. all other settings as default.
All users can receive external emails to their own accounts no problem just
not from this distribution group. We have a number of other distribution
groups set up which work fine. I can't see any difference between them.

I have exactly the same problem with our sever and a clients.
I added the routing rules for the groups to the POP3 connector but hasn't
solved the problem. Are you using a SMTP feed or POP3 Connector to receive
mail? |

The user is in Cached Mode. Could there be a stale rule for his account
that is preventing the delivery of this message from getting to his mailbox?

a rule wouldn't really prevent delivery...it might move a message somewhere
else, but didn't you say you did a message trace and the message just isn't
getting to the mailbox at all?

I am having the same issue. One user is a DG is not getting the messages.
This is an automated message sent from the AS400 to the DG. All users
except one receives the message. When I send a test message from Outlook to
the DG, the user receives the test message. Client you say? I've whacked
all of the users Outlook settings and have recreated them.
Any ideas?
Many Thanks!

does this user get messages that are sent to other DGs that he/she belongs
to?

The AS400 just sends a straight SMTP message. The user did mention that he
received the weekly message up until October 1st, and then no longer
received it. I'm not sure if that is valid or not. |

so is the AS400 somehow using an obsolete copy of the DG? how does it send
the email? just a straight smtp message to the smtp address of the DG?

Excellent question. There are two DG's set up for automated messages from
our AS400. The user does not get any messages from the two DG's when
emailed from the AS400. (Again, if we email directly from Outlook to the
two DG's, he'll get the message. All other users in the DG's seem to get
the messages).
As far as other DG's go, he seems to be fine.
Thanks Susan!

Re: Distribution group - not all members receive mail |

Here's what I have done:
Ran ADSI Edit and verified that the user was a member in the member
attributes of the DG object.
Checked the SMTP queues/bad mail/etc on the SMTP Exchange server to verify
that there aren't any NDR's for this user.
Checked our Journaling/Archiving server and verified that this message was
not delivered to the users mailbox.
As far as a pure message trace, once it leaves the AS400 - that really is no
help to me. The AS400 doesn't do any delivery confirmation.
