Im not sure if this is the correct group for this question. If not please
advise of other group more suited.

I am trying to write a windows service that would read a number of Exchange
mailboxes at set intervals and respond to unread emails in the mailboxes.
Could someone point me in direction of sample code for this task

Depends on what version of Exchange you are talking about and what Language
you want to program in the best place to start would be to download the
Exchange SDK from http://msdn.microsoft.com/exchange . This will give you an
overview of the API's you can code in and examples of how to read emails in
a mailbox and also send mail. One method you could use instead of responding
at intervals is to write a Store Event sink that will fire when a new
message arrives.

If you are planning to use Extended MAPI (C++/Delphi only), set the service
to run under a Windows account that has admin rights on the Exchange
mailbox, create a dynamic profile in your service (see KB 170225 on MSDN),
log to the profile, open the store, then use IExchangeManageStore interface
to open other users' mailboxes and loop through their Inbox folders.
