Windows 2000 Exchange 5.5 Active Directory Connector |
|
|
I have just installed Exchange 5.5 on my home server.(Yes I know it's old
but I am doing this on a limited budget and I can't afford to upgrade to
exchange 2003 yet). I have sucessfully configured exchange so that I am
sending and receiving mail but I wanted to add the Active Directory
Connector. But every time I do it errors out with the following error:
Extending the schema in the Active Directory failed. Please consult the
following error log: %s\LDIF.ERR
ID no: c1037ae6
Microsoft Active Directory Connector Setup
The log shows the following:
Entry DN:
CN=Mail-Recipient,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=stephendcarlton,DC=com
change: modify
Attribute 0) mayContain:assistant
Add error on line 1: Busy
The server side error is "The role owner attribute could not be read."
An error has occurred in the program
There is also a file LDIF.LOG and it shows:
Connecting to "server"
Logging in as current user using SSPI
Importing directory from file "E:\VALUEADD\MSFT\MGMT\ADC\trial.ldf"
Loading entries
1: CN=Mail-Recipient,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=stephendcarlton,DC=com
Entry DN:
CN=Mail-Recipient,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=stephendcarlton,DC=com
change: modify
Attribute 0) mayContain:assistant
Add error on line 1: Busy
The server side error is "The role owner attribute could not be read."
0 entries modified successfully.
An error has occurred in the program
I have googled this error message and just about every variation of it. I
found one solutions refering to spaces in the TEMP path so I changed the
TEMP path to c:\temp but still the same error. Also I read somwhere that
reinstall SP4 could help fix the problem which I did but still the same
results. Any assistance you could provide on this would be appreciated.

I seem to have resolved the problem. When I went into AD Sites and Services
there was an old server still listed there. I used ADSI Edit to remove the
old server and the installation then completed.
