OK did a fresh install of a new server, with a new name, old server crashed
no backups so disaster recovery isnt' an option.

Changed server name (during 2000 advanced install to Mail from exchange)

When I install exchange server the messaging and collaberation step fails.
Services don't show and you do see the menu for Exchange manager.

It showed two servers under the first admin group. I deleted the old server
name.

However I will not let me install or re-install keeps coming up saying it
has a previous server (the new one Mail) in the admin group that never really
installed properly.

How do I get this to work>?

I got the manager installed, removed the server which corrected the above
error and now when messaging and collab. installes I get

Setup failed while Creating Active Directory objects for Microsoft Exchange
Server-Level Objects (error 0x80072030: There is no such object on the
server.) .

Additional information:
There is no such object on the server.
