Mailbox restricted |
|
|
The last user I set up in our domain can't receive outbound mail and the
sender will get the following error messages:
Got an unknown RCPT TO response: 553 mailbox <e-mail address> is restricted
or
Status: 5.1.3 (bad destination mailbox address syntax)
Remote-MTA: dns; <Our DNS MX Pointer>
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 553 <e-mail address> is restricted
I've been trying to search for information about this specific error but
can't seem to find any.
Does anyone know what this means?
Please help me!

If the mail is outbound, how would he receive it?
What version of Exchange?
Does the mailbox have delivery (message) restrictions configured?

Sorry, my english is not the best. I ment that he can't receive inbound mail
from external mail senders.
We've got an Exchange 2000 server.
All our mailboxes have restrictions at 100 mb. After that size is reached
the user cannot send mail but still receive. No other restrictions are set.

I am having a similar issue except we are using Exchange 2003. Any updates
concerning this issue?

This issue is fixed for me. We have got an external spamfilter and the user
was not added to that. After adding the users account to that system he could
receive mail.
