exchange 5.5 internet emails |
|
|
Recently had a NT 4.0 file server and a seperate Windows NT4.0 server with
Exchange 5.5 server installed. Basically, both of them "bombed" out. We
replaced both servers and now have a PDC Windows 2000 server and the seperate
Windows 2000 server with Exchange 5.5 Installed (with no AD, DNS config,
Applicatiuon serv, etc, just a file server with exchange installed).
Internal email now works fine but external/internet email dosen't work at
all. Is there something i need to do on the PDC regarding DNS, or is ther
something i need to do on the exchange server regarding internet messaging,
etc... Any help is welcomed. Dan...

Did you install Internet Mail Service (IMS)? If you have Windows 2000 SMTP
service installed, uninstall it first. (Exchange 5.5 cannot use it, and if
it's installed it may prevent IMS from installing/binding to SMTP port).
