POP3 Server timeout while trying to receive certain messages |
|
|
I'm running SBS2003 SP1 with Exchange 2003 SP2 and I'm trying to pop my
Exchange server with a POP3 client (which has been working for years) and I
cannot retrieve some messages, I get an error saying the connection timed
out.
I also tried popping with MS Outlook Express and I get the same error. I
can retrieve all of the messages using Outlook Express with IMAP. I can
also read all of the messages with Outlook 2003 client. This problem is
affecting all users.
I recently upgraded my Trend Micro Antivirus and install Exchange 2003 SP2.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem with the same exact environment. Except my OP system is not SBS 2003 but standard server 2003 with exchange 2003.
The problem looks to be that Trend micro is somehow corrupting the email message. There is a workaround the problem.

I'm sure this will resolve your issue. I just found this after 4 days of testing.
Good luck. |

Re: POP3 Server timeout while trying to receive certain mess |

Hello All,
We have also encountered this issue as well, unfortunately, I haven't been
able to come up with a solution. The good news is that it's only happening
to a hand full (11 out of 2,000) of our users. In one case, when the user
tries to retrieve email using Microsoft Outlook 2002 on a POP3 account the
process hangs on message 10 of 42 but if I delete message 10 from within
OWA, the rest of the messages are retrieved with no problem.
We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 along with
Symantec Mail Security for Exchange. I have done numerous offline defrags
along with running the isinteg command per Microsoft Technical Support
suggestions but the issue still occurs at least twice a week.
If anyone else has encountered this problem, it would be interesting to hear
some of the troubleshooting steps or if a solution is available.
Thanks in advance,
Darrell

Hello, I have the same problem
SBS 2003 Premium with Exchange SP1Spanish version with Mcafee Groupshield
Antivirus
Some users with pop3 they get this time-out so I need to access with OWA and
delete the e-mail, and then works fine.
Any ideas?
