Moving X2K3 from W2K server to W2K3 server |
|
|
Currently have Exchange 2003 Enterprise installed on a W2K server. I want to
move Exchange to a new W2K3 server AND keep the same server name. Does
anyone know of a concise, step-by-step guide to acheive this? KB822945
specifically states the the new computer must have the same OS as the old -
so that won't work.
The other option is to change the name, but avoid the need to go to each
desktop and/or profile to change the exchange server name.

Well, you can't really, can you?
You have a choice of either moving the servers as per:
http://www.swinc.com/resources/exchange/faq_db.asp?status=questions&faqID=1001&faqname=Exchange%202000§ionID=1024§ionName=Exchange%202000%20Move%20Server%20Method
which oviously changes the name or you can move to a new box as per
822945 and then upgrade the components. Personally I can't think why
you want to keep the same name. |

Won't I have to modify the Exchange server name on each Outlook client?

Okay, maybe I should have read some of the article (#21 specifically) before
replying.
Thanks for the info - I appreciate it.
