Odd Request from Boss - Restricting Email |
|
|
Hello,
I'm hoping that this will be possible.
I work for a local School District and we are looking at giving our students
an email address (over 100,000).
We are moving to Exchange 2003 from 2000.
We would like to restrict the student's email to internal only. No external
SMTP. I do not want the students to be able to get email from the outside
nor send email to the outside.
We have split off our servers to 3 functions. OWA, SMTP, and Exchange Back
end.
I also want to block OWA from students.
Is any of this possible?
Thanks
Ron.

- To disable outbound Internet mail, you can setup a SMTP Connector (if one
doesn't already exist) for outbound mail and use Delivery Restrictions
- To restrict inbound mail, create a Recipient Policy for students so they
only get email address(es) for an internal/unregistered domain like
student1@schooldomain.local
- Once you upgrade to Exchange Server 2003, you can disable OWA for students
from their user account properties | Exchange General tab.
