I have about 10 mailboxes that contain one or more corrupted messages.
Different file types - all give the error..."the operation failed" when
accessed.

My question - Is there any way I can remove (perhaps with exmerge) any
attachement that is corrupted (anything that can't be open)?

NOTE: when I do brick-level backups with Backup Exec these items are listed
as "..."is a corrupt file.
