We have had a couple of instances of multiple duplicate deliveries of SMTP
messages to external recipients over the last couple of days.

The exchange message tracking log shows multiple delivery attempts that seem
to indicate they are successful:

Delivery continues every 10 minutes until I manually NDR the message in
System Manager.

The eventviewer shows that the remote host dropped the connection:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
Event Category: Connection Manager
Event ID: 4006
Date: 12/6/2005
Time: 9:13:18 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SV-TIGER
Description:
Message delivery to the host '216.176.95.140' failed while delivering to
the remote domain 'consolidated.net' for the following reason: The
connection was dropped by the remote host.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

However, we've confirmed that the user has received the message every time
an attempt is made to resend.

Any insights as to the cause/solution would be greatly appreciated.
