16-bit Outlook |
|
|
I understand that the 16-bit version of Outlook is included on the
Exchange Server 5.5 Clients CD, but the first version of Exchange in my
organisation was Exchange 2000, so I don't have a copy of Exchange 5.5.
Is there somewhere I can get a copy of 16-bit Outlook from - I have both
an MSDN subscription and access to MVLS, and the MSDN does let me
download a copy of Exchange 5.5 Enterprise, but doesn't seem to include
the Clients CD.
Exchange 2000 doesn't include a 16-bit version of Outlook (and neither
does Exchange 2003).
Also, does anyone know if 16-bit Outlook will work with an Exchange 2003
server?

I'm not sure what you're referring to - the old Exchange client?
What is it you are actually looking for, and need? |

Apparently, there was a 16-bit version of Outlook 97 released with
Exchange 5.5 (ie one that will run on Windows 3.11 for Workgroups).
But I don't have Exchange 5.5 - only Exchange 2000 and 2003.
I have an old application that only runs on Windows 3.11 and I want the
user on that old machine to be able to read his email.

I suspect that Outlook Web Access is your only option if you don't have the Exchange 5.5 CD. You might try asking the MSDN online concierge, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

You could consider a full upgrade of the PC to XP and Office XP/2003
etc. Then run the app in a Virtual PC running Win 3.11 - You would
need to verify that the App runs OK in a VM. It may let you bring this
user up to date while keeping the 3.11 app working.

I would recommend sending an email to MSDN and asking where you can download
what you want.
