If I do not allow anonymous access Under SMTP Default Virutal Server/Access
Control/authentication, I do not receive email.

I have no problem sending email out when I do not allow anonymous access.

Our Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise is running behoind a proxy server.

Any suggestions???

This is normal for any SMTP communication to the external world. Typically
folks secure thier Front end using ISA or other third party solutions. You
can lock this down by adding your subnet by which to recieve this.
Unfortunately outside senders will never be able to authenticate since they
are not part of the same directory.
