Hi. I would like to know what advantages of having an SMTP Connector on my
Exchange network. I am using SBS 2003 with the .local domain name.
Additionally we have many branch offices with seperate domains who download
POP3 mail from an external company which hosts our external mailboxes in
the .com email address. How will an SMTP connector help me in my network as i
am using a forwarded host for SMTP which is my ISP. All Outgoing SMTP mail
goes through the SMTP Server of my ISP. Aditionally, i cannot send to more
than 20 recipients per message because my ISP does not allow it. Will
installing an SMTP connector bypass this problem of sending through the ISP?
Note: my POP3 mail is registered under .com addresses.

Please help!

I can't see a need for a connector in your case.
Any reason that you ask? Has someone suggested you should have a
connector?

A connector here is irrelevant.
Your ISP shouldn't be blocking you from sending to any more than a few
recipients.
You're pretty limited because everyone downloads from a POP account,
so your sending via your ISP relay is pretty much your only option,
otherwise it's going to be an admin pain.
If you are the only people using the .com address space to which you
refer you could change your recipient policy from .local to .com. That
should not affect the POP3 connector, so although it still collects
and distributes mail you will be able to send mail externally with the
..com address as the visible reply address.
