Can't send mail to external recipients
My mail flow just stopped suddenly to external adresses. I have about 16
queue's listed and only 2 of them have messages in them that will not send.
The others will not go away.
The two with mail in them show the green checkmark but still sit there.
I have used telnet from the mail server to verify that I can get a
connection and send an email to the recipiant that way.
I am not on any RBL's so I don't think that's a problem and I am not an open
relay.
There are more and more hosts that I can not send to everyday and this is
crushing my company. I noticed this problem yesterday AM.
One oddity is that if I restart IIS I get one particular email everytime I
do it.
I am running Small Biz server 2003 with Exchange SP2
Please please help me.
Thank you,
Rees

Hello,
I'm french so excuse me for my language. Have you made a test in order
to ping you external dns ip adresses ? If it works fine, you may verify
with exBSA (Exchange Best Practise Analyzer) the values concerning
Exchange attributes in the shema (start menu --> run --> adsiedit.msc)
and in the registry.
I had a lot of problems (!!!) on SMTP on my Exchange 2003 servers and
ExBSA works very good to find the source of problems.

Is that running W2K3 SP1? If so, have you installed this fix?
Installing security update MS05-019 or Windows Server 2003 Service
Pack 1 may cause network connectivity between clients and servers to
fail [898060]

Do this test to make sure your RDNS record has not been changed
http://www.dnsreport.com/
if your RDNS has changed you will not be able to send e-mail and mail will
get rejected, you have verified you are not listed in any RBL and have no
mail relay??
Make sure you are clean
here where to check
http://www.dnsstuff.com/
Spamdata base
Also as it was suggested if you are runnign SBS you will need the patch
Cheers

Rich,
I have the patch, or one newer.
Oz,
I have checked those sites you posted and I'm good on both. On dnsstuff.com
I am listed as whitelisted on at least one of them.
Here is what my queue looks like...
www.isworks.com/queue.jpg
As I mentioned, mail to my internal people is delivered, but anything
outside hangs in the queue.
DNSresoltion is happening, and I can establish a telnet session to all of
these mail hosts.
I'm beginning to thing that IIS is hosed and I need to reinstall it and
SMTP. I know it's a pain to do and am hoping that there is some other fix.
Thanks for your help guys and I appreciate more please.
Rees
