Emails stay in queue after event sink executed |

Hi,
I'm writing an event sink which modifies the message body of an email. I'm
writing an SMTP event sink (OnArrival) in C++.
I'm able to modify the email but once it has been modified by the event
sink, the email stays in the SMTP queue.
Is there something which needs to be done in the C++ code so the message
moves out of the queue?
Does someone have example of SMTP event sinks written in C++?
(I have some in VBscript but here I need C++)
