Hi,

i run exchange 2003 SP1 & SBS 2003 succesfully, but i had to change ISP.
Telstra did not deliver as usual, so i am now on V-sat ( two way) with a
fixed IP
61.xx.xx.41 on the modem and 61.xx.xx.42 on my NIC on the SBS2003 box.
My nameserver is pointing to 41 and i can see the redirection working.
But my Echange is NOT collecting mail via SMTP.
What could be the problem.

Many thanks

Sepp

Did you update your MX Record and A Record for the new IP? Verify at

See if you can telnet into the SMTP service TCP Port 25 from the outside
using the IP and FQDN. See if Exchange accepts the request using both. They
could have a firewall on the modem thats built in.

I would try it from the outside using the FQDN and the IP. Something on your
router is problalby blocking the SMTP service.

That's standard. the .41 address is nothing. The .42 address is your first
'real' public IP. I'd suggest putting some kind of firewall device between
the modem and the LAN. I use ISA successfully. It would have the .42
address and simply publish your Exchange server.
