dedicated oab server |

I was working on a design for a 35,000 users and the managers are
insistent that in an Exchange 2003 sp2 environment of that size a
dedicated Offline address book server is justified. I was curious if
any one else had heard that?

Not sure I would want a server that did nothing but generate the OAB
unless it was a smaller scale server/ workstation.
Maybe put it on a public folder server or bridgehead instead?
Just my opinion, others may disagree. |

Do they have a budget they *have* to spend? Or are they getting a
kickback from the consultants they hired do do the design? :)
We have a similarly sized organziation (~36K mailboxes, ~5K
distribution groups, ~5K contacts, and ~45K public folders) and we
generate the OAB every hour. It takes under 5 minutes.
