import Public Folders from a PST file |
|
|
Hi,
I've migrated from an NT4 Exch 5.5 to WinServer 2003 Exch 2003. I've got
all the mail boxes over and all the clients running with outlook 2003 ok.
Now I want to import my public folders back into Exch 2003. The
documentation said to export them to a pst file from one of the clients
before the migration, which I did. Now I can seem to find any info on how
to import them back in.

Thanks...that helped...partially.
1) First, when I open the pst file, I can only see the folders that have
mail message types. There are folders that contain contacts and task, and
they don't show up. But I know they are there, because when I select copy,
they show up in the list of folders that I can copy too. How do I get to
those types of folder. This is also an issue with some of the clients...I
try to open their old personal folders and I don't get their calander and
contacts, only the e-mail folders.
2) I don't see the Public folders in outlook. Is that something that has
to be enabled on the server or in Outlook?
Thanks...

Open the pst from within Outlook, then create new public folders and
copy them back.

Using Outlook 2003? If you're connecting directly to the Exchange server
(not POP/IMAP), see if clicking on the "folder list" button/navigation pane
shows you everything.

I found my answers...I was on E-mail view, and not Folder View. You have to
forgive me...I'm used to Outlook 98, and I'm not familiar with all these
bells and whistles! |
