MDBDATA log file question |
|
|
On my Exchange 2003 server box there is a folder named \Exchsrvr\MDBDATA. I
understand that this is where Exchange stores its mail database.
Within that folder I have 1,825 files, each 5,120k in size, for a total of
9Gig. File names are of the form E000*.LOG
Are these just log files and therefore able to be deleted? Or are these in
fact the database files in which Exchange stores the e-mail.
If they are just log files I'd like to be able to delete them and clear up
some space on my mail server.
I look forward to your comments and suggestions

If that is where you defined it within the database properties.

Those are your transaction logs. Do not delete them.

See above. They really should not be on the same drive as your priv1
and pub1, if that is the case. The path for the transaction logs are
defined in the storage group properties . The store by default are the
priv1.* and pub1.* files, unless you have more than one store or named
them differently.

Run a full, online backup from your Exchange aware backup program or
ntbackup. That will clear the logs. DO NOT DELETE THEM! |
