Moving from PST to exchange |
|
|
I was trying share a calendar for a user but did not get the link in Outlook 03 that says "Share my calendar...". When I open the Control Panel Mail applet on that computer it looks as if she has a local PST file and is not storing the Outlook information on our Exchange Server.
I read that if I change the drop down labeled "Deliver new email to the following location:" so that is says "Mailbox - {user name}" this will put her on the exchange server.
The question is, would I need to move her local data to the exchange server or by making this selection option will that also transfer her local data to the Exchange Server?
Thanks,
Greg

Thank you for the reply. I thought that might be the case. So do I just find the PST file on there machine and copy over to a folder on the server or is there an import feature on Exchange Server that I would use?

hi... |

you can chose the way it suits to you the best.... import and export tool is also available for this in outlook.. if you have PST you can import that to user mailbox directly .. you just need to chose use mailbox at the last moment you are doing import operation.....(also keep in mind if the pst is too larg it can exceed server size of user mailbox....) _________________ Sunil Chauhan

Ok, so I see how to export the data from Outlook on her workstation, but I don't see an import feature on the server? Is there another tool that maybe was an optional install?
Thanks,

i dont know which version of outlook client you are using.... as far as i check this import and export is available under file menu in outlook as import and export.... and there is no any other program needs to install for this.. this is inbuilt program in outlook... for more info go through this link...

I think I'm starting to get it. I thought there was an import function on the server I was to use.
If I understand correctly, both the export and import happens on the client. I export the mailbox, then change the mailbox settings in the Control Panel applet, then import the mailbox, and all of this happens in the client.
