OWA Page not found with special characters |
|
|
I am suffering a strange problem. URLSCAN is not installed on my 2003
computer, but clients are having "Page Not Found" errors for messages which
contain special characters.
All other messages, and the OWA navigation display perfectly. But messages
that have say a colon (for example a RE: message) will show page not found.
This happens both in the preview pane and when the message is double
clicked.
I checked the IIS logs, the requests are being made to IIS, but are being
returned with a 404 error.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

Quite often special characters are interpreted by html as something
other than originally intended. Try to eliminate the special
characters in the subject lines. |

You are correct, if there are no Colon's or other special characters no
problem
However, every email reply I receive begins RE: how do I work around this?

Thanks again for your response.
Sadly, Neither the IIS lockdown tool or URLSCAN have ever been run on this
computer. The log files they create dont exist, etc. This smells like the
error, but this is just not the problem.
I have found several references to others with the same problem, no URLSCAN
but with "page not found" for email messages with a colon or other special
character in the subject.

Problem Resolved
In the virtual directory for exchange, a configuration for wildcard
configuration mapping was set incorrectly. The davex.dll executable was
incorrectly set with the checkbox "verify that file exists" After clearing
that check box, the problem went away.
Had to call Microsoft Tech support, they got through to the bottom of the
problem.

These articles provide quite a bit of relevant information on how to
troubleshoot and/or modify the files used by the IIS Lockdown tool
(even though the URL Scan was not previously applied.)

Or you can refer to this article

Good Luck.
