Microsoft Metadirectory Services |
|
|
Hello all,
A General question here from a TechNet Technical Training CD Presentation on
Deployment Methodologies for Upgrade, Migration, and Coexistence.
I understand in a Mesh Topology each Forest will have an MMS server, but
it's not clear to me regarding a Hub/Spoke Topology. So in a Hub/Spoke
Topology, which Forest does the MMS server physically reside?
Thanks!

Depends on what you mean by hub-and-spoke?
Can you give more details about what you want to accomplish?

Al,
What they are calling a Hub/Spoke Topology is having the MMS server function
in the middle of all Forests making them work in a Transitive relationship to
allow mail to be trusted between all the Forests. I'm curious "where" this
MMS server will physically be located. I guess one of the Forests, but which
one vs. the others.
Thanks!

Why should it belong to any forest then? Does it matter if it does since
you'll have to specify credentials for each of the forests independently
anyway (most likely anyway)?

True, and transitively speaking, I guess it really wouldn't matter where.
That's what I figured. Sounds good! I'll give this a rest.
Thanks.
