Exchange 2003 hardware... |
|
|
Hello,
Setting up Exchange 2003 and need to make a hardware decision.
I only have 30-40 users that will use Exchange e-mail, share contacts and
calendars, maybe some access by blackberry etc. Based on this small number of
users, I was considering using an existing 733 MHz, 256 MB RAM, basic IDE
RAID 1 box that I have.
Will this be sufficient?
Not sure how big the Exchange data and user boxes can grow, how big should
my drives be? (I have 18 GB IDE drives) Is SCSI even necessary?
Thanks much,
MP

Hy
I would say 733Mhz is sufficient. But you can spend more RAM. 512 Minimum.
Concerning the Harddisks. IDE is ok for such less number of people. I
suppose you use Ex2003 Standard? Then also the 18GB Harddisks are OK (16GB
Storagegroup Limit of Ex2003 Standard).
If itīs possible you can put the Transaction Logs on a own harddisk, so the
IDE harddisks are not a so big bottleneck.
The important thing is just that you using RAID and of course a Backup.
Nobody want to loose mails ;)
Hope i helped a little bit.
kind regards
Hans
