I migrated from 5.5 to exchange Server 2003. I can see the exchange 5.5
server and the 2003 server in the exchange 2003 system admin tool. i was
able to get the mailboxes moved ok using the System Admin tool(2003). I
tried the pfmigrate and the report did not show any public folder instances.
I manually exported the folders to a pst and reimported them to the new
server's public folders. Everthing is moved. Now I need to remove the 5.5
server and swith to native mode. I can't see the 5.5 server together with
the new server from the exchange 5.5 admin tool on the new server or the 5.5
server. I can connect to the individual server separtely but neither servers
see each other together in the site. They only see themselves. The 2003
admin tool sees both but I cannot remove the server there. I have to use the
5.5 tool but the server does not show up when connecting to the 2003 server
via 5.5 admin tool. I need some help. Thanks.

First off do you have the active directory connectors set up to allow
replication back and forth from 5.5 and exchange 2003? Those can be tricky.
It also sounds as though you might have a mixed mode domain and a AD domain
running together.? If this is the case you also need to make sure the domain
service accounts for exchange have been given rights on the 5.5 org and site
which will allow it to make changes on the 5.5 site.

The ADC is setup and running. I assume that it is at least partially working
because I was able to move the mailboxes. I agree that there seems to be a
replication issue somewhere.
Can I just use the ADSI Edit tool to remove the old 5.5 server? I have seen
some info specifically article 867659 that explains this. Is this ok to do?
Then after removing the server and site replication service, will the
exchange 2003 server be able to be switch to native mode? Any advice would
be appreciated.
