Multiple Exchange Servers in Forest |
|
|
I've found contradicting information about having two Exchange servers, for
different domains, in the same forest. I really need to clarify this point.
The existing Exchange server is 2000 in a W2k domain. The second domain, in
the same forest, is also W2k but would install Exchange 2003. Thanks for
insight!

You can certainly have an Exchange 2003 server in a Windows 2000
domain in a forest that also contains a different Windows 2000 domain
which hosts an Exchange 2000 server.
That should be clear enough. Where are these conflicting articles, got
any links? |

Thanks Mark, It was very clear. I'll hunt up those links and paste them in.
One last question - assuming that the Exchange 2000 server may want to
upgrade, can we have two Exchange 2003 servers in the same forest, different
domains? Thanks. CMP

Hell yes. You can put the Exchange servers in whatever domains you
want, child domains, granchild domains, forest root, domain tree root
(different tree of domains in the forest) and you can have different
smtp domains in any, some or all of the above places.
It's what you might describe as flexible. |
