|
|
Has any one done this or could point me int he right direction. I did buy the

I would create a new cluster with W2003 and E2003 and then start moving
mailboxes across.
Of course there is more stuff to do than just create the exchange cluster,
ADC, SRS.

Absolutely, and don't forget that in a migration, ADC and SRS will require a
standalone Exchange server as those services will not run on a cluster.

Russ,
I was thinking of 4 servers in total, 2 for the cluster 1 for the Public
Folders and 1 as our gateway. Could I bring the first Exchange 2003 box as
the gateway server and use that for ADC and SRS?
Once i build the Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003 cluster I take it i add them
to the exsisting org and then do a swing process fro the mail boxes etc.
Last question, can a Exchange 5.5 Public Folder server live within the
Exchange 2003 site/0rg. The reason i ask is we have an appliction that only
works with 5.5.
Many thanks for you input

Sure, so long as it is not an FE or cluster server, that will work fine.
Join it to the 5.5 org and away you go.

A swing process is not the same as what you are proposing. What you are
proposing is a simple mailbox move process from the 5.5 to the 2k3 server.
It is probably the best route as risk is very minimal.

Yes, but you can't change to native mode. Just out of curiosity, what is the
app? I can't think of anything that requires 5.5. |
